Chemical Inventory Database: Each Department or Principal Investigator (PI) is required to maintain a current inventory of all potentially hazardous chemicals stored, used, or produced within each area that is under their responsibility. The Department or laboratory’s chemical inventory list should be updated on an annual basis, or more often if needed. UM-Flint uses UM Ann Arbor’s chemical inventory system MI Safety Portal, to assist departments and laboratories in maintaining their inventories.
Hazard Waste
Hazardous waste is waste that is dangerous or potentially harmful to our health or the environment. Hazardous waste can come in the form of commercial products, such as cleaning products, fertilizers, and pesticides. It is imperative that waste deemed hazardous is handled and disposed of correctly. Individuals are prohibited from disposing of these materials in a dumpster, compactor, or down a drain.
