The University of Michigan-Flint offers a limited number of laptop computers and other equipment for short-term, emergency loans for students. The program aims to ensure students have the technological resources they need to succeed at the university when they face an emergency and bridge the gap to a long-term solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who\u2019s Eligible?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Students in good standing and registered for the current semester are eligible for this program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Long Can I Keep It?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Students can reserve a laptop or other equipment for up to one semester. Laptops must be returned two days before the end of the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Kind of Technology Is Available?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We have a limited number of PC laptops available. All computers come with the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Reader installed, as well as these additional pieces of software<\/a>. We also have a limited number of headsets, microphones, AT&T hotspots, and web cameras available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How To Apply<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To request equipment, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Complete the online pre-screening form<\/a>. A staff member will review your application and contact you with the next steps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Approved students will be emailed an Equipment Loan Agreement form to complete, and then they need to go to the Circulation Desk in Thompson Library to pick up the equipment. The equipment will be available for seven days from the day of the approval, and then it will return to the queue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Equipment must be returned to the Library at least two days before the end of the semester. If you are finished with the equipment sooner than that, please return it to the Circulation Desk at the Library so that other students can benefit from the program. If equipment is not returned promptly, the student\u2019s account will be placed on hold.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Other Resources<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

     UM-Flint offers computer labs<\/a>, and Thompson Library offers laptop loans of up to four hours at a time. Students can also apply for emergency grants<\/a> if they are eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The Laptop Accessibility Program is coordinated by the Division of Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, ITS, and the Thompson Library. Funding for this program has been provided by generous donations to the Student Affairs Opportunity Fund and the Provost\u2019s Initiative Fund, and the Student Government provided laptops.
