Kristi Hottenstein, Ph.D.
Kristi Hottenstein is Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management at the University of Michigan-Flint. She has nearly 20 years of experience in enrollment management and student affairs. Hottenstein served as Vice President of Student Services at Jackson College, Dean of Students at Adrian College and has held numerous other leadership positions including Executive Dean for Enrollment, Student Services and Extension Center Education, Associate Dean of Off Campus Programs, and Assistant Dean. She leads and has led multiple enrollment and retention initiatives and was part of the Adrian College team that achieved a doubling of enrollment and major improvements in retention.
Kristi Hottenstein received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Alma College, Master of Science in Higher Education, with a concentration in Higher Education, from the University of LaVerne and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Toledo. Hottenstein is also a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan, and holds a supervisory certification. She is a sought-after teacher of courses in counseling, higher education, and college success strategies at both graduate and undergraduate levels and has multiple publications on the impact of federal human subject research regulations on undergraduate research practices.
A driven advocate for higher education, she has served on the Higher Education Leadership Advisory Council and the Counselor Education Advisory Council at Siena Heights University. Hottenstein is a Peer Reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in Chicago, IL, a member of the Michigan College Access Network's Higher Education Advisory Council, and is a 2019-2020 American Council on Education Fellow.
Terry Bigelow, B.B.A.
Terry Bigelow is the Executive Secretary to both the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management as well as the Vice Chancellor for Business & Finance with nearly 25 years of experience in the Univesrity of Michigan system. While in Ann Arbor, she served in the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the Department of Neurology, and the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. Terry joined the Flint campus in 2003, and prior to her current position, she served in Development as well as the School of Health Professions and Studies (now the College of Health Sciences). She has a strong working knowledge of university policies and procedures garnered from her experiences in diverse and varied environments (administration, academics, development and medical research).
Terry holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business from the University of Michigan-Flint.
Dawn Markell, M.S.A.
Dawn Markell currently holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Record Administration from Ferris State University, a Master of Science Administration in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University, and is currently in the process of completing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Western Michigan University. Dawn has nearly 30 years of combined experience in program management, academic advising, and higher education administration.
Jeffrey Hall, Ed.D.
Jeffrey Hall, Ed.D. is the Director of K-12 Partnerships at the University of Michigan-Flint. He has over 21 years of administrative experience with K-12 school districts. The University has partnerships with 25 local districts for dual enrollment and early colleges generating enrollment of over 700 students. For six years, Hall served as Superintendent for Swartz Creek Community Schools. He was a school administrator for 14 years with Midland Public Schools serving in a variety of roles including elementary principal, middle school principal, director of special education, and director of school administration.
Jeffrey Hall received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan-Flint, Master of Arts in School Psychology from the University of Detroit, Educational Specialist from the University of Detroit-Mercy, Master of Arts in School Administration from Grand Valley State University and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University. He was a Gerstacker Fellow at Saginaw Valley State University. He has studied in Ireland, Northern Ireland, China, and Japan. He holds a state of Michigan Central Office certification and School Psychologist certification.
