To apply for financial aid for Spring and Summer, students must register for courses by January 31, 2020 and have a valid processed 2019-20 FAFSA on file with the Office of Financial Aid.  Students filing on or before January 31st will be given priority consideration for funding in addition to Federal Pell Grant or Federal Loan eligibility a student may have remaining.

Below are the estimated dates financial aid will be reviewed for students who registered for Spring and/or Summer classes by January 31, 2020 and have a valid 2019-20 FAFSA on file with the Office of Financial Aid. If you need to make a change after you receive your award notice, please submit a Spring Summer Revision Request.

When should I apply?

There is no Spring and/or Summer Aid Application. To qualify for priority Spring and/or Summer financial aid register for Spring and/or Summer classes by January 31st each year. 

Note:  Wait listed courses do not count as registered classes. 

What if I miss the priority registration date?

You may still register for classes.  To qualify for Spring and/or Summer financial aid, register for Spring and/or Summer classes and have a 2019-2020 FAFSA processed and on file with the Office of Financial Aid.

I'm thinking about transferring to UM-Flint. Can I apply for Spring and/ or Summer financial aid before I'm admitted?

You must be admitted to UM-Flint to register for classes.  To qualify for Spring and/or Summer financial aid, register for Spring and/or Summer classes and have a 2019-2020 FAFSA processed and on file with the Office of Financial Aid.

I'm a UM-Flint student, but I haven't attended in a few years. What do I need to do to get Spring/Summer aid?

Visit the Admissions Office and complete a re-admit application. View more information on readmission.

Register for classes and have a 2019-2020 FAFSA on file with the Office of Financial Aid to qualify for priority awarding. 

How will I know when I have been offered Spring and/or Summer aid?

Returning students will receive an award notice via your UM-Flint student email account once their financial aid has been awarded.

Newly admitted students and transfer students will receive a paper award notice once their financial aid has been awarded. 

All students may view their awards on-line by logging into the Student Information System (SIS).

Do I need to accept the loans offered to me in Spring and/or Summer?

Yes, you will need to accept loans offered to you.  Log into the Student Information System (SIS) to view and accept your loans.

When does this financial aid pay?

Financial aid will begin to pay to student accounts on the first day of the Spring semester.  Summer aid will begin to pay on the first day of the Summer semester.
