Experience That Pays Off <\/mark><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Work-Study is an opportunity available to students at UM-Flint that has many benefits. <br><br>A wide variety of departments on campus employ students every year. Work-Study allows students to gain relevant work experience that helps to cover tuition costs. Each semester, students who are receiving student aid can sign up for this opportunity, and apply for jobs with departments on campus. University department staff and faculty work with students around their schedule to ensure they are getting on-the-job training that will set them up for future success in the workplace. It is a win-win situation for students who often need work experience and a way to pay for their education. <br><br>Below are step-by-step instructions about the process of participating in the Work-Study program at UM-Flint. Contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/finaid\/contact-us\/\">Office of Financial Aid.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color\">Applying for a Job<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-b0fec0e99e45df8c24d18c90e9294749\"><strong>Filing the Federal Application For Student Aid<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Filling out the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">Free Application for Student Aid<\/a> is required to be eligible for work-study funds. To be eligible for work-study funds, make sure you file the FAFSA prior to the March 1 priority deadline. Make sure that when you fill out the application, you indicate that you wish to receive work-study funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color\">Accepting Funds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Check the Award Letter<\/strong><br>After filing the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\"><strong>FAFSA<\/strong><\/a>, all students will receive an electronic copy of the financial aid offer notice in their student email account. First-time UM-Flint students will receive a paper copy of this offer notice. The offer notice will indicate whether or not work-study has been offered.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What if I Wasn&#8217;t Offered Work-Study Funds?<\/strong><br>Students may apply for work-study each year. You will receive a paycheck when you work. You may earn up to your offer each semester.
