First-Time in College Students

All first-time in college students living on campus have a required meal plan as part of your Housing & Residential Life agreement. This meal plan is billed through your student account and costs $1195.10 per semester. The meal plan is active August 27 and expires at noon on November 21, any unused balance is forfeited once it expires.  

This meal plan is loaded onto your M-Card, we call this currency Maize Money. You will have $1195.10 on your M-Card to use on campus. Maize Money can be used in the following ways:

  • Laundry room
  • 2 vending machines located near the Riverfront laundry room 
  • Barnes & Noble Bookstore located in the University Pavilion
  • Food vendors located in the University Pavilion
  • Printing Services located in the University Center
  • Housing & Residential Life/Riverfront Desk to purchase vouchers for local businesses (see Voucher Exchange Program below)

Voucher Exchange Program

In order to provide you with some additional food options during the fall semester, we are introducing a Voucher Exchange Program. You can purchase vouchers for local food establishments using your Maize Money from the Housing & Residential Life office, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Vouchers will be available for purchase until October 31, 2020. Vouchers are in $5 increments. Vouchers cannot be used to purchase beer, wine, alcohol, gift cards, or lottery products from any local food establishments. Vouchers are non-refundable. Optional Maize Money

All students have the option of purchasing Optional Maize Money. Optional Maize Money purchased June – December, expires on December 31, 2020, any unused balance is forfeited once it expires. You can purchase any amount of Optional Maize Money greater than $25 and you can reload your M-Card as needed throughout the semester. Students with the required meal plan can add additional Maize Money if needed through the Optional Maize Money program.  Students who do not have a required meal plan and would like to purchase a meal plan can do so by purchasing Optional Maize Money. On Campus Food Options

Picasso Restaurant Group locations (Cafe Blue, Blue Bistro and Picasso @ UCEN) will not be open during the fall semester. Food service options on campus will be located at the University Pavilion and include:
