Discovering Flint's Spatial History 10:00am - 11:00am
Dr. Dan Trepal, Post-Doctoral researcher at Michigan Tech University, will discuss the Flint Archeological Spatial History (FLASH) project. The FLASH project provides a digital infrastructure to explore historical data and stories about Flint's past. He will be joined by three UM-Flint faculty: Dr. Thomas Henthorn, Associate Professor of History; Dr. Vickie Larsen, Associate Professor of English; Dr. Beverley Smith, Associate Professor of Anthropology.
Understanding the Potential of Opportunity Zones through Data 2:00pm - 3:30pm
This session will be a series of presentations from various professionals about the use of GIS and data to understand the potential of Opportunity Zones. Presenters include: Brad Garmon, Office of Outdoor Recreation Industry, Department of Natural Resources, State of Michigan; Wendy Jean-Buhrer, City Manager, City of Grand Blanc; John Redwine, Project Manager, Michigan Economic Development Corporation; Troy Rosencrants, GIS Center Manager, UM-Flint.
