Interviews are by invitation only and are typically held in early September on the UM-Flint campus. Interview Day allows the program to learn more about each applicant while giving applicants an opportunity to learn about UM-Flint. Applicants interact directly with faculty, staff, current students, and university representatives.

Applicants may be evaluated on:

Communication and interpersonal skills.

Understanding of the PA profession.

Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

Alignment with the UM-Flint PA program’s mission.

Alignment with the program’s essential attributes.

Potential for success in the program and PA profession.

In addition to the individual interviews, Interview Day may include:

A writing sample.

Group participation.

Other evaluative activities.

A walking tour of campus.

Meetings with institutional representatives to learn about university services.

After interviews are completed, the program continues its holistic selection process by considering each applicant’s complete application and interview performance. The program aims to issue admission decisions between mid-October and early December.

Step 4: Complete the Post-Acceptance Requirements

Applicants offered admission must complete all post-acceptance requirements by the deadlines provided in their admission offer.

Accepted applicants must:

Submit a $1,000 non-refundable seat deposit within one week of acceptance.

Sign the Technical Standards Attestation.

Complete a background check.

Complete a drug screening.

Meet all health and immunization requirements.

Complete any required online Pre-PA preparation coursework.

The $1,000 seat deposit is applied to the student’s first-semester tuition. An alternate who receives an offer must accept the offer and pay the required seat deposit within the timeframe specified by the program. Failure to meet that deadline will result in forfeiture of the seat.

Automatic Interview Invitations for Eligible UM-Flint Students

In keeping with the UM-Flint PA program’s emphasis on public health, applicants who meet all minimum admission requirements and are enrolled in or have graduated from certain UM-Flint programs will receive an automatic interview invitation.

Eligible programs include:

Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences Pre-PA track through Public Health & Health Sciences.

Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy through Public Health & Health Sciences.

Human Biology Pre-PA track through the College of Innovation and Technology.

An automatic interview invitation does not constitute an offer of admission.

Deferment Policy

The UM-Flint PA program does not offer deferment.
