Students seeking an F-1 visa (international students) must have all prerequisite courses completed before they are offered admission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The UM-Flint DPT program uses a holistic admissions process when reviewing applications.&nbsp;Holistic admission is the process of considering applicants&#8217; educational experiences and attributes beyond grade point averages and GRE scores.<br><mark><br><\/mark>Applicants admitted to the DPT program must demonstrate that they possess the attributes necessary to succeed in a challenging curriculum as well as perform in the practice of physical therapy.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/e\/2PACX-1vQUELMq8jgJjoDrC8CgisyN4l6xZ4lHo9MJ3iq9_1ArvVT0-1ebxlWuZb9t-bkISywCcc7LV5oVY80o\/pub\">Essential &amp; Technical Standards<\/a>&nbsp;are the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and physical abilities required for satisfactory completion of the DPT curriculum and development of professional attributes required of all students at graduation. While an applicant is not required to disclose the specifics of any disability, it is the applicant\u2019s responsibility to request a reasonable accommodation if they cannot demonstrate these&nbsp;standards&nbsp;without accommodation.<br><mark><br><\/mark>The UM-Flint\u2019s DPT program uses&nbsp;<a href=\"\/graduateprograms\/physical-therapy-entry-level-dpt\/rolling-admission-criteria\/\">Rolling Admission Criteria<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DPT class admitted in fall 2025 had an average GPA of 3.69.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 id=\"applying\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-x-large-font-size\">Apply to the DPT Degree Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">UM-Flint uses the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ptcas.org\/home.aspx\">Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service<\/a> to evaluate all applicants. The application will be available June 15\u2013Oct. 15 of each cycle. Students who apply by Oct. 15 must be PTCAS verified no later than Dec. 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Submit the following to PTCAS:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/graduateprograms\/transcript-policy\/\">Official transcripts<\/a>&nbsp;from all colleges and universities you have attended in the United States (foreign transcripts are to be sent to the Office of Graduate Programs, not PTCAS)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two letters of recommendation submitted to PTCAS\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>One reference must be from a physical therapist who has observed you within the last five years in a clinical setting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The second reference may be from another physical therapist or a university professor who has instructed you in a course within the last five years, or who has acted as your academic advisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UM-Flint DPT program does not require, but does recommend observation hours. If you have completed observation hours we recommend you include them in your application. If you are submitting observation hours on your application, the UM-Flint DPT program will only accept them if they are verified electronically or uploaded as a document. Self-reported hours will not be recorded as completed hours on your application.
