fund as an enhancement to the Standard Practice Guide&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/spg.umich.edu\/policy\/201.69\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">201.69 Tuition Support<\/a>&nbsp;specifically for UM-Flint staff members who attend UM-Flint classes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><br>The fund is available on a first-come, first-served basis.<br><br>Eligible staff members are consistent with those outlined&nbsp;in SPG 201.69.<br><br>Eligible staff members may receive up to 100% of in-state tuition and fees paid from the central fund as long as funds are available. (Directly proportional to appointment fraction).<br><br>Eligible grade(s) are defined in&nbsp;SPG 201.69.&nbsp;<br><br>Maximum of 18 credits per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).<br><br><strong><em>Clarification:<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp; Grades not eligible as defined by&nbsp;SPG 201.69 must be changed to eligible grades within 60 days following the end of class in order to receive tuition support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-secondary-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-secondary-background-color has-background mt-5 mb-5\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading mb-2 has-primary-color has-text-color\">Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Staff members:<\/strong>&nbsp;Must complete the <a href=\"#forms\">Staff Tuition Prepayment Form<\/a> and submit to their supervisor by the deadline listed on the form for each semester applying (see below).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Supervisors<\/strong>: Approve or disapprove employee\u2019s class request and submit to Staff member or Student Accounting to meet the deadline on the application. Part-time staff members with a 50% or greater appointment are eligible for tuition support proportional to their appointment fraction. This additional tax liability will reduce your paycheck(s) through deductions set up through Student Accounts and Human Resources. Federal, state and FICA taxes will be withheld on any amount in excess of $5,250.00. This applies to all classes taken while under the status of \u201cGraduate\u201d (i.e. graduate students taking undergraduate courses).<br><br>** Tax liability for any calendar year will be calculated starting with the previous fall semester and run through courses taken in the summer of the current calendar year. i.e. fall, winter and summer tuition support will be totaled to determine if the $5,250 support has been exceeded.
