wp-elements-57ce47c8fc06001aaa042b13b0bcad46\">What is Harassment?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Harassment is a serious offense and the University of Michigan-Flint takes harassment seriously!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harassment is conduct directed toward a person that includes repeated or continuing unconsented contact that would cause a reasonable individual to suffer substantial emotional distress and that actually causes the person to suffer substantial emotional distress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The university will not tolerate the creation or existence of an environment that is hostile on the basis of one\u2019s protected class (race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, or veteran status). Such a hostile environment is defined as harassing conduct (e.g., physical, verbal, graphic or written) related to one\u2019s protected class that is sufficiently severe, pervasive or persistent so as to (1) interfere with or limit the ability of an individual to participate in or benefit from the university\u2019s programs and activities or (2) unreasonably interfere with an individual\u2019s work or academic performance by creating an objectively intimidating, hostile, or offensive work or learning environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-68beaac4dd72879bed52bd476944a99e\">Where do I report Harassment?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Equity, Civil Rights &amp; Title IX Office addresses and investigates matters involving discrimination, discriminatory harassment and sexual misconduct on behalf of the university when a complaint is filed against a student, faculty member, staff member or third party.
