<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The ICERP Activities will focus on three primary areas:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rigorous, collaborative, and community-focused interdisciplinary research, scholarship, and creative\u00a0activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interdisciplinary curricular development and programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional learning and service through the development of tools, resources, and programs.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-4004ca6658c80777f3e3c2ff66915365\"><strong>Research-based Advocacy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Build a synergetic network of researchers working across disciplines and institutions. Promote action-based research projects in PK-12 schools and the community, addressing issues such as systemic racism and other forms of marginalization.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-9e2836306642febe2f6ef5d7086b4690\"><strong>Curriculum Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Promote and support community-based teaching and learning curricula. Create and\/or support UNV 100 courses that focus on urban spaces.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-15838ccd10b21023ae28340575060c57\"><strong>Service<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Support and facilitate programming and collaboration for community leaders. Support UM-Flint student, faculty, and staff initiatives related to the Institute\u2019s focus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7d069388a5de20e40bee4c2cafd50a9c\"><span style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">Our Planning<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Planned projects will align with our mission. Currently, these include seeking grant funding to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Investigate disparities in health outcomes and access to health care that, historically, plague poor communities and communities of color, where life expectancy is lower, infant mortality is higher, and birth weights are lower.\u00a0 Infants, then, are more at risk for infections, delayed development and learning disabilities (Williams &amp;\u00a0 Mohammed, 2013).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support students from disadvantaged backgrounds through the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate&nbsp; Achievement Scholars Program.
