Important Update Regarding the English Language Program

The English Language Program (ELP) will not be accepting applications nor offering courses for the remainder of 2019 (Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters). If you are interested in the ELP, please submit your application for Winter, 2020.

If you have any questions, please contact the International Center at or at 810-762-0867.

Build your English skills on campus

For students requiring additional English language coursework to meet UM-Flint admission requirements, we offer our convenient on-campus English Language Program (ELP). An intensive and accelerated program, ELP provides students the opportunity to strengthen reading, vocabulary, writing, grammar, and communication skills needed to succeed in university-level courses at UM-Flint.

Led by dedicated TESOL-trained instructors with experience living and teaching abroad, ELP classes are small and supportive. In addition to stronger academic skills, ELP students enjoy access to a wide range of cultural activities designed to introduce them to university and social life in the United States. ELP is also a great option for family members accompanying international students who wish to learn English but do not plan to pursue a degree at UM-Flint. Visit the ELP website.

ELP Application Checklist :

We encourage students to apply to the ELP at least two months before the term they plan to start. Apply online using the English language application.

Students interested in participating in our English Language Program (ELP) may also apply online using ApplyESL.
