This will help ensure its visibility and legibility.<br><br>The minimum clear space for the University of Michigan logo is defined as the height of the block M. Understanding the clear-space rule is essential, as it is also the standard for logo position and scale on most printed communications. In that regard, the clear space rule should be maintained as the logo is proportionately enlarged or reduced in size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left mb-2 has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-58fb2f8a5c13b26c663768a720b0b498\"><strong>In Text<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left mb-2\">In text, the University of Michigan-Flint should appear as four words in upper- and lower-case with a capital \u201cU\u201d for University and a capital \u201cM\u201d for Michigan. In sentences, the University of Michigan artwork (the Michigan M) is never to be used in place of text. These same rules apply to the signatures for schools, colleges, institutes, and programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left mb-2 has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-a0a18e92d371dcc1ffa6fab6e490d3ce\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">Logo Don&#8217;ts<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left mb-2\">The UM-Flint logo has been carefully designed and should never be altered in any way. These examples illustrate how NOT to use the logo but do not include all instances of misuse.<br><br><em>Do not:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alter the marks in any way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use any part of the marks, including the Block M, as part of another word.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Redesign, redraw, animate, modify, distort, or alter the proportions of the marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Surround the marks with\u2014or place in the foreground over\u2014a pattern or design.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rotate or render the marks three-dimensionally.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add words, images, or any other new elements to the marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Replace the approved typeface with any other typeface.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enclose the marks in a shape or combine it with other design elements or effects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modify the size or position relationship of any element within the marks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add an additional copy to the marks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-21ce7327bec4506d170997da1725488b\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">Using Other Versions of the Logo<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are instances when it is appropriate to use the 2- or 1-color versions of the UM-Flint logo. Please consult MAC about how and when to accurately utilize these options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-c1c77541c05a87e7f74b8556b4447107\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">Logo Use by Student Groups<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/campus-life\/student-clubs-organizations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sponsored student organizations<\/a> may use the UM-Flint logo with permission from their sponsoring unit.<br><br>Voluntary student organizations may refer to themselves as the \u201cUniversity of Michigan-Flint [name of group]\u201d but may not use university trademarks or logos.<br><br>Organizations not registered with the Office of the Dean of Students cannot use university trademarks, logos, or reference the university in the name of their organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-370649d2c52c9de54692a6e610341f03\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">Social Media Icons<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The social media icons created by the Office of Marketing &amp; Communications are considered \u201cofficial\u201d and will only be created for the approved department and program social media accounts.<br><br>They work for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and any other social networks that use a square or round graphic for the profile image and should NOT be resized or modified. When the name stands alone, as on stationery, a brochure cover, or in giving the address, it is preferred that \u201cThe\u201d be used with a capital \u201cT.\u201d<br><br>Please note that the correct punctuation mark for the University of Michigan-Flint (and its abbreviations) is the shorter hyphen rather than the longer en-dash or em-dash.
