Student Research Opportunities

Mathematics students at the UM-Flint have many opportunities available to further their learning and/or obtain financial support.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Unlike REUs, which take students off-campus during the Summer for research, the UROP program is designed to occur in tandem with classwork.

Research Experience for Undergraduates

Summer REUs give mathematics students a chance to go beyond traditional coursework to engage in legitimately new mathematical research.  Students receive funding from the NSF to spend several weeks at host institutions all over the country, culminating frequently at presentations at national conferences or publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Topics and institutions vary from year to year.  Click on the "more" link for a list of upcoming REUs.
