The University of Michigan-Flint offers an undergraduate course, Introduction to Nurse Anesthesia, each Winter semester. It is course HCR 130.
This 1-credit course is open to any UM-Flint undergraduate student who wishes to consider nurse anesthesia as a career. It is also open to non-UM-Flint students who apply as either a guest student or a non-candidate for degree through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
For Winter 2013, the course is offered either completely online or on campus in a format that meets for 2 hours on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. every two weeks. Consult the class schedule for specific dates. Search for HCR 130.
The course provides an overview of the profession of nurse anesthesia, including scope and settings of practice, requirements and curriculum designs of educational programs. Basics of anesthesia, professionalism, professional organizations history and current issues within the field. Intended to assist students and RNs in their consideration of Nurse Anesthesia as a future career.
