employment while in the UM-FERN program?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many students find it very difficult to hold a job while in this accelerated program. We won\u2019t tell you no, but we like to be clear that this is an intensive, full-time program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-381fd3c034f561c5edf96390ee84af84\">Questions about funding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-958d95d74b445190864bab5ee94d0f97\"><strong>What will the UM-FERN program pay for?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The program will pay for tuition, fees, books, scrubs, mileage reimbursement, and a laptop to use while in the program. This includes prerequisite and general education courses as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-9320bcad420af26bfe91a5ccbdca7f38\"><strong>What will the UM-FERN program NOT pay for?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The program will not pay for classes that are not required, books that are not required, or course retakes if you fail a class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-227f6f817640f26885c603c01df560e2\">Questions about UM-FERN requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-b32f906c04816f92fbc77dd32cd9a197\"><strong>What are the requirements to get into the UM-FERN program?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The basic requirements are that you are a resident of either Tuscola, Huron, Sanilac, or Lapeer county; you have at least a 3.0 GPA in college coursework (or a 3.0 GPA in high school if you are a current high school senior); you have a 3.0 GPA in specified science courses; and that you complete all prerequisites with a grade of C or better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-08f265621a737d926d7b0bd1012a2e35\"><strong>I\u2019m an Associate\u2019s Degree Registered Nurse. Can I apply?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, no. The purpose of this program is to increase the number of RNs in the Thumb region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-b9a719d581cd194fe90d3c547eec1f23\"><strong>I\u2019m an LPN. Can I apply?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, you can apply as long as you meet the other requirements and are not currently an RN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-262cb48acfd8058f005addc8438609f7\"><strong>What will I have to give in return for receiving funding?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After graduating with your BSN and passing the NCLEX, you are required to work as an RN in the Thumb region (Tuscola, Huron, Sanilac, or Lapeer county) for a period of time that is equivalent to the number of years you received funding.
