Holiday Gift Distribution
The Pop-Up School was enjoyed by children who came with their parents to the Holiday Gift Distribution at Carriage Town on Friday, December 15, 2017. Imaginations ran wild as playdough became ice cream and birthday cakes, colorful rocks became candy on magnetic houses, and plasic drinking cups turned into walls around Santa's Chimney.
Literacy Night at Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary
Literacy Night at Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary, on Thursday, October 19, 2017, was a great success! Young children enjoyed themselves through sensory play, movable spiders, and interactive, "Itsy Bitsy Spider," posters. Older children worked together to weave life-size webs and create miniature webs to take home. Jane Jackett, ELA Chairperson, Durant Tuuri Mott Elementary School, commented that the activities, "were so engaging, educational and fun that you had a crowd... the entire evening." The Pop-Up School program, "truly made our family night a success!"
While their mothers were being pampered at Hill Creek Church's annual, "Single Mom Spa Day,"on Saturday, November 4, 2017, children were engaged in activites that showcased the beauty of the season as they observed patterns, explored materials, and created one of a kind pieces of art.
Light Up The Night
Children of all ages and their parents enjoyed playing and exploring glowing objects in the dark, at UM-Flint's Early Childhood Development Center's annual Light Up the Night event on Friday, November 17, 2017.
Flint Farmer's Market "Santa Days"
Families enjoyed decorating cookies, watching the Santa runners, holiday shopping, and the Pop-Up School activities while they waited patiently to see Santa at the Flint Farmer's Market on Saturday, December 2, 2017.
Urban Renaissance "Holiday Walk"
Although the night was frigid, people from the community joined at the Urban Renaissance Center to celebrate the Christmas season with the lighting of the tree, Christmas carols, hot chocolate, and doughnut on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. Children created magical works of art as they added sequins, gems, beads, and other art materials to popcicle sticks. Peppermint playdough was the hit of the night!
