Each guide describes a pathway from a Michigan community college to a specific UM-Flint degree program. They include classes that can be taken at the community college and those that can only be taken at UM-Flint. UM-Flint currently has approximately <strong>300 Transfer Pathway Guides<\/strong> for <strong>28 Michigan community colleges<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c\">Background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>UM-Flint&#8217;s current Transfer Pathway Guide format was designed by a committee that was formed in September 2020. This group was charged with developing a template which:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Can be used by any academic unit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is easily interpreted by prospective students and community college advisors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meets accessibility standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is viewable on both desktop and mobile devices and is printable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can be easily updated and maintained<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Transfer Pathway Guide Committee was made up of representatives from Undergraduate Admissions, ODE, and academic units, with input on design and accessibility from MAC. After developing multiple design options, the committee sought feedback from current transfer students, UM-Flint faculty and staff, and community college partners. The current design incorporated feedback from these constituents and was approved by the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c\">Guide Selection Criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is up to each academic unit to decide which of their programs need Transfer Pathway Guides. It is not necessary, or even desirable, to have guides for every undergraduate program, as each guide takes time to build and maintain. The most effective guides:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promote transfer to existing programs with high transfer enrollment and new programs with the potential for high transfer enrollment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on primary target community colleges, including:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mott Community College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lansing Community College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oakland Community College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Washtenaw Community College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delta College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>St. Clair Community College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Macomb Community College<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wayne County Community College<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c\">Process for Creating New Guides<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to ensure that all transfer guides are uniformly formatted and meet accessibility standards, academic units that would like to develop a new transfer guide are asked to use the following process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c;font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.469), 1.25rem);font-weight:700\">Step 1: Submit Request Form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdl0yTHIPBUcsT8M6EFs0z4CLvP2V3udR-qgRdYDe3LZ0ZbXg\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Transfer Pathway Guide Request form<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The person submitting the form will be asked to specify who is responsible for the development and maintenance of the new guide. Units can develop guides for any program they wish. This form enables Undergraduate Admissions to build a shell for the requested guide. Its purpose is not to grant or deny permission to establish a new guide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c;font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.469), 1.25rem);font-weight:700\">Step 2: Receive Template and Edit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Admissions will create a pathway shell using the established template and give the designated contact permission to edit the guide. Detailed instructions for editing the guide will also be provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c;font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.469), 1.25rem);font-weight:700\">Step 3: Review and Publication<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Admissions will review the completed guide for consistency and accuracy and will publish it to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/admissions\/transfer-students\/transfer-pathways\/\">Transfer Pathway web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c\">Ongoing Maintenance and Annual Review<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To remain useful, Transfer Pathway Guides must be reviewed and updated regularly. Academic units are encouraged to proactively make updates as program requirements change, new courses are developed, and existing courses are discontinued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To facilitate this ongoing review, academic units will be asked to verify the accuracy of each Transfer Pathway Guide annually:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" style=\"color:#00274c;font-size:clamp(0.875rem, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.469), 1.25rem);font-weight:700\">Annual Review Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Undergraduate Admissions will send a reminder to the responsible party for each guide shortly after a new catalog is published.
