wp-elements-c8b64bf68fb6083e35b431910f7370aa\">Human Subjects Protection <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>UM-Flint Investigators must submit their human subjects research protocols for approval via the U-M Health Sciences and Behavioral Sciences <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/research\/institutional-review-board\/\">Institutional Review Board<\/a>. Application for studies involving patients of Michigan Medicine, medical devices, or drug research must submit to IRB-Med. IRB-HSBS meets twice a month (maize and blue panels) and has two faculty representatives from UM-Flint. Any member of the faculty, staff, student body or public having reason to question the treatment of animals at U-M should report any suspected cases of animal abuse, misuses, or mistreatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-43d5883393adb87f1c9682400deaee89\">Program for Education &amp; Evaluation in Responsible Research and Scholarship <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-2\">The University updated its Responsible Conduct of Research Training as part of the online <a href=\"https:\/\/research-compliance.umich.edu\/peerrs-portal\">PEERRS<\/a> training. Expanded federal requirements mean that this training applies to all U-M employees and students involved in any aspect of research and scholarship, regardless of internal or external support.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Publishing activities (journal articles, book writing, literary criticism, legal research, technical and institutional research reports, literature reviews, and historical scholarship, among other forms)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oral or poster presentations of research\/scholarship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collection and analysis of data, information, biospecimens or records<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inclusion as personnel on sponsored research or scholarship grants\/awards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inclusion as personnel on internally funded research or scholarship grants\/awards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development and\/or leadership of centers that generate new knowledge, research or scholarship<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Media contributions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creative expression\/performance and visual arts activities (compositions, presentations, performances, exhibits and similar projects)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-2\">The new training went into effect June 30, 2021and is required of all employees and students.
