Research Opportunity Program <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/research\/student-research\/undergraduate-research-opportunity-program-urop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program<\/strong><\/a> is designed to support collaborations between UM-Flint undergraduate students and faculty researchers. Students participating in UROP are eligible to receive a stipend of <strong>up to $1000 per funding cycle<\/strong>, can use work-study funding (if eligible), or earn service hours through the Commitment to Service Program for volunteer efforts. UROP students earn $18 per hour.<br><br>Because of the diverse nature of the research conducted at UM-Flint, undergraduate students at any level and from any academic discipline can participate in UROP. Projects are available during three cycles each year in the fall, winter and summer terms.\u00a0Once faculty projects are posted each cycle, students can apply via <a href=\"https:\/\/umflint.infoready4.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UM-Flint Infoready<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-secondary-color has-css-opacity has-secondary-background-color has-background mt-5 mb-5\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color\">Student Funding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Several donors to UM-Flint have expressed an interest in encouraging student research and generously donated funds to support student-initiated research and travel to attend professional conferences. These endowed funds support original student research ideas and are intended to encourage individual or group work. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/research\/student-research\/student-funding\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"117\">Student Funding<\/a> for more information on funds available, eligibility, and how to apply.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-secondary-color has-css-opacity has-secondary-background-color has-background mt-5 mb-5\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color\">Graduate Student Research Assistantship <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/graduateprograms\/paying-for-college\/research-assistantships\/\">Graduate Student Research Assistantship program<\/a> at UM-Flint is a vehicle to provide financial support for the academically-related research activities of active UM-Flint graduate students. A GSRA is an appointment that may be provided to a student in good standing in a UM-Flint graduate degree program who performs personal research (including thesis and dissertation preparation) or who assists UM-Flint faculty in performing research that is relevant to his or her academic goals. Appointments to the GSRA program at UM-Flint are made for one or two semesters\/terms and are contingent upon the recommendation of an academic department or program and the approval of the Office of Graduate Programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-secondary-color has-css-opacity has-secondary-background-color has-background mt-5 mb-5\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color\">Research Conferences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-5\"><strong>Flint Student Research Conference <\/strong><br>Flint <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umflint.edu\/research\/student-research\/student-research-conference-src\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"119\">Student Research Conference <\/a>provides a unique opportunity for students at UM-Flint, Kettering University, and Mott Community College to gather for a day of sharing their faculty-mentored research, scholarship, and creative activities. This collaborative event showcases multi-disciplinary research from the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and applied sciences. Students present the results of their scholarly and creative endeavors through oral or poster presentations or live performances and demonstrations.
