The Flint Area Explorer Program is a comprehensive career-focused mentoring program designed to provide young adults between the ages of 14-21 the opportunity to explore a career in law enforcement.
Participants will develop capacity for their future roles as citizens, community members, leaders and potential law enforcement officers. This is accomplished through classroom trainings, interactive activities, a variety of field experiences, including Ride-Alongs, and community service. The program provides a well-rounded education in law enforcement and leadership preparation through instruction in physical fitness, military drills, ceremonial procedures, uniform and grooming standards, and character development.
The program is offered in collaboration by the Genesee County Sheriff's Department, City of Flint Police Department, Mott Community College Department of Public Safety and the University of Michigan-Flint Department of Public Safety
