The Funding Board is a Student Government Chaired board consisting of Student Government members, fellow students, and the Dean of Students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-eaff471b740b542fa6a42d3a83bca88c\">Student Organization Funding Board<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Purpose of the Student Organization Funding Board shall be to provide funding, at the board&#8217;s discretion, to qualified voluntary student organizations for events and initiatives that benefit the student college experience at the University of Michigan-Flint.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Qualified \u201cvoluntary student organizations\u201d are VSOs with a status of \u201cgood standing\u201d with the Office of the Dean of Students and have had two executive officers attend a VSO funding training session hosted by ODOS and co-hosted by the Director of Financial Affairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons mb-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-100\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-secondary-color has-primary-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/cglink.me\/2sF\/s191\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Student Government Funding Board Request Application<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-a84e875c5e61b3d1d68bde124697fcb6\"><strong>The Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The President or Treasurer of a Student Organization submits an eligible funding request through Campus Connections at least three weeks before the event.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student Government Director of Financial Affairs, the Chair of the Funding Board, reviews the requests and adds the requests to the agenda of the next Funding Board meeting.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Funding Board reviews the funding request and decides on one of the following: approves funding, denies funding, or requests additional information for additional consideration.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Director of Financial Affairs, the Chair of the Funding Board, emails promptly to communicate board decisions and further action needed by the requesting Voluntary Student Organization.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-c6a7e40f046e21fdb7c40b29ee947294\"><strong>Funding Board Restrictions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th><br>Restriction<\/th><th>Details<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>a. Funding per Academic Year<\/td><td>No more than $2,300 for a student organization per academic year, with exceptions if a waiver is approved.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>b. Funding for Specific Items<\/td><td>No more than $500 for the following items: <br>i. Gift certificates\/cards <br>ii. Promotional items (e.g., t-shirts, novelty items, giveaways) <br>iii. Personal items for members (e.g., t-shirts or other personal-use items).<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>c. Non-Academic Costs<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used for costs unrelated to the academic or co-curricular mission of the University or the requesting student organization.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>d. Alcohol, Tobacco, Contraband<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used for alcohol, tobacco products, or contraband.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>e. Conference Participation (VSOs)<\/td><td>Only registration fees for conferences will be funded. Travel, dining, or other non-registration expenses are not covered.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>f. Non-Profit Donations<\/td><td>Funds cannot be given as a direct monetary contribution to a non-profit or on behalf of a non-profit.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>g. Political Campaign Activities<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used for political campaigning activities, including advocacy for or against candidates, legislation, or ballot initiatives.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>h. Religious Worship<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used for direct support of religious worship. However, groups can receive funds for activities that express religious viewpoints or non-worship religious activities.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>i. Consultants<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used to pay for consultants.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>j. Salary, Stipends, Tuition, Fees<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used for salaries, stipends, tuition, or fees.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>k. Membership Fees<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used for membership fees, either local or national.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>l. Events with Admission Charges<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used for events that charge admission.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>m. Reimbursements for Past Expenses<\/td><td>Funds cannot be used to reimburse expenses for past events or registrations that have already passed.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><br>n. Event &amp; Conference Funding for Sponsored Organizations<\/td><td>Sponsored student organizations must apply to their respective councils for event or conference funding.
