Dr. Julie Ann Snyder's favorite quote is, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." -Ghandi. Fun facts about Dr. Snyder, she is a first-generation American and first-generation college student. Her passion areas are politics, social justice, and education. Dr. Snyder came to the University of Michigan-Flint in the July of 2016 and serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students. Dr. Snyder earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, her master’s degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from Bowling Green State University. Her dissertation research focused on practices that can increase retention and graduation for low-income students. Dr. Snyder was born in Detroit, Michigan. In her spare time, Dr. Snyder enjoys reading, gardening, being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Chris is passionate about leadership development, student development, and social justice. Chris has worked in a variety of roles prior to coming to the University of Michigan-Flint in 2019. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administraiton in Higher Education from Ball State University. Chris enjoys reading and speding time with family and friends.

Prior to starting at UM-Flint in January 2019, Mary was at Baker College for almost five years working as an administrative assistant to payroll and human resources. Mary is a Flint native; graduated from Kearsley High School and received an Associate’s Degree from Mott Community College. After MCC, Mary received a B.A. from Saginaw Valley State University. She and her husband, Filiberto, currently live in Montrose with their two children. Mary’s favorite leadership quote is, “Leadership is not about titles, positions or flowcharts. It is about one life influencing another.” -John Maxwell. Outside of work- Mary enjoys nature, traveling, volunteering, food, and of course the Red Wings.

Immanuel Wright

Student Leadership Assistant

Immanuel's (Manny's) favorite quote is, "In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different." –Coco Chanel. A fun fact about Manny is that he has six names. His passion areas are being able to be a resource for other students, professional development, and education. Manny's professional experience includes, previously serving as a Peer Mentor, and currently serves as a Resident Advisor in addition to membership in student organizations. After graduation, Manny plans to go into higher education or become a neuroscience nurse.
