Syagnik Banerjee, Ph.D.
Dr. Sy Banerjee is an Associate Professor of Marketing at UM-Flint and an Affiliate Professor at Michigan Institute of Data Sciences (MIDAS). He received his PhD in Business (Marketing) from the University of Rhode Island, MBA (Marketing) from International Management Institute, New Delhi, and his Bachelor in Science (Economics) from Presidency College, Kolkata. He joined academia with four years of industry experience in consumer packaged goods, logistics, tracking and telecommunications.
He has been a pioneer in the research of the impact of mobile devices in digital marketing, consumer insights and behavior. His research covers areas including mobile advertising, Geoadvertising, Advertising Transparency and developing Trustworthy data science applications for marketing and public policy. He has published in Journal of Business Research, Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing, Journal of Marketing Analytics and Information Society among many others. He authored M-Powering Marketing in a Mobile World, a book covering the dynamics of technology, business and society for academics as well as practitioners.
He has developed the first academic course on mobile interactive marketing and offered it for Northwestern University in 2013, been speakers at the Mobile University Summit, and been a collaborator with Heartland Mobile Council (Chicago) for developing a certification program for mobile marketers. He has helped the UM Flint School of Management win the Community One Awards from MMBDC through his teaching and the OakGov challenge with AT&T through his research efforts.
He is a member of the Collaborative Neuro-marketing Group at Northwestern University, MIDAS at UM Ann Arbor and also serves as reviewer and Editorial Board Member for several internationally reputed journals including European Journal of Marketing and Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing.
