Minds Online: Teaching Effectively with Technology

The TCLT invites faculty to participate in a book reading and discussion of Minds Online: Teaching Effectively with Technology (2014). Throughout this three-part series, we will explore the principles of human cognition and consider how they can inform the effective use of technology in college teaching.

In this session, participants will consider the common principles that underlie good teaching in online and face-to-face modalities and discuss the impact and importance of technology in the contemporary higher education landscape.

Join us as we discuss the three broad areas of cognition most relevant to teaching and learning (attention, memory, and thinking) and how these processes guide the development of quality learning experiences.

In the final session we will explore strategies to use multimedia effectively and how to apply research-based strategies to motivate students.
