Mya Baxter was born February 11, 2000, in Flint, Michigan to loving parents, Tarita Sampson and Henry Baxter. On October 24, 2025, she was called to eternal rest.
Mya graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with her Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology (Honors) and was attending the University of West Alabama for her Master’s Degree. She loved traveling, music, reading, language learning and spending time with her family and best friends.
Mya was preceded in death by her grandmother Louise Sampson; grandfathers, Jewell Baxter Sr. and Luther T. Ealy; great-grandmother, Dorothy Simpson; uncle, Nathan Sampson; and great-great-grandmother, Dorothy Batson.
Mya Baxter leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Tarita Sampson; father, Henry Baxter; sisters, Brea Baxter, of Flint and Satoria Burns of Davison, MI; brother Henry Baxter Jr.; grandmothers, Gail Baxter and Linda Baxter, of Flint; aunts, Karen (Anthony) Kelly of Lithonia, GA, Catrina (Michael) Cox of Clarkston, MI, Regina Baxter, Kimberly (Arnold) Brown, all of Flint; uncles, Michael Sampson of Clow, AR, Jewell Baxter Jr., Sean Baxter, both of Flint, Idris (Megan) Echols of Grand Blanc, MI and Dr. Justin Echols of Atlanta, GA; great-uncles, Craig (Twana) Simpson and Michael (Carla) Simpson of New Mexico; great-aunt, Janet (Harlan) Stinnett of Flint; best friends, Taylor Johnson of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Destiny Benton of Grand Blanc, MI.
Mya also leaves to mourn: special cousins, Courtney Taylor-Oliver, Alexandria Taylor, George S.
