Dual Enrollment at UM-Flint

At UM-Flint, we believe that preparation for college success begins long before a student’s first year. That is why we are proud to partner with school districts across Southeastern Michigan to provide exceptional opportunities for K-12 students. Through our comprehensive dual enrollment programs and engaging campus events, UM-Flint faculty and staff work closely with teachers and administrators to help students explore college-level academics and campus life while still in high school. These partnerships empower students to develop the skills and confidence needed to excel in higher education.

The DEEP Program offers juniors and seniors from our partner school districts the opportunity to earn college credit through specially designed, cohort-based courses. These DEEP courses are conveniently scheduled as part of students’ regular high school day and are delivered at local high schools, on the UM-Flint campus, or synchronously online. Most students enroll in two courses each semester—two in the fall and two in the winter—allowing them to earn up to 12 college credits in a single academic year.

Juniors from select partner school districts have the opportunity to participate in our three-year Early College program, which is designed to fit seamlessly into their high school schedules. Early College courses are delivered in a cohort model and take place at local high schools, on the UM-Flint campus, or synchronously online. Students typically take two courses each semester—two in the fall and two in the winter—earning 12 college credits in both their junior and senior years. During a fifth year of high school, students complete an additional 24 college credits focused on their intended major, either on the UM-Flint campus or online. Upon completion, students graduate with their high school diploma and a substantial head start on their college education.

High school students from any Michigan school district, with the approval of their district, can take advantage of dual enrollment at UM-Flint. Students may enroll in tuition-discounted UM-Flint courses—offered on campus or online—that fit within their high school schedule and meet graduation requirements. With more than 200 online courses available, students from across the state, including those in distant districts, can benefit from access to university-level learning through traditional dual enrollment.
