Meet Kaitlyn Bader

Education
Kaitlyn Bader began college studying athletic training at another university and left after a difficult first semester. She picked things back up at a community college — and eventually transferred to UM-Flint with enough credits to start substitute teaching in local K-12 schools right away.
That experience in real classrooms is what pointed her toward her focus today: teaching elementary students. “I always loved education and had amazing teachers in my life,” she said. Along the way, she found a second home in Phi Sigma Sigma sorority. “Phi Sigma brought a larger sense of family and connection into my life when I needed it the most,” Bader said. She also co-founded UM-Flint’s club tennis team, which now competes against schools like Central Michigan University and Oakland University.
In fall 2025, Bader was named a Maize and Blue Distinguished Scholar. Her advice for students figuring out their own path: “Just show up and be you.”
