Commencement Information

  • The ceremony will be held in the Dort Financial Center on May 3.
  • Dort Financial Center is located at 3501 Lapeer Rd, Flint, MI 48503
  • Parking will cost $10 per vehicle and is cash only.
  • There is no guest limit; however, guest seating is first-come, first-served.
  • The UM-Flint Bookstore can assist students in purchasing caps, gowns, hoods, invitations and other commencement items.

Commencement checklist

Checklist before graduation

  1. Apply to graduate by March 13 If you need assistance, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
  2. Confirm your information in SIS is correct. Your diploma will be mailed to the address on file.
  3. Review the commencement email sent from the Office of the Chancellor on February 5 for important details.
  4. Share your story!
  5. Watch your email for RSVP information from the Office of the Chancellor on March 16.
    • Once it arrives, make sure you RSVP by April 24.
    • You must RSVP to attend commencement.
  6. If you have any guests who need accommodations, please fill out the Accommodation Form.
  7. Purchase your regalia. If you need assistance, the campus bookstore is happy to help!
  8. Commence! Arrive at the Dort Financial Center at least 45 minutes prior to your ceremony.
  9. Tell us what’s next! Complete your First Destination Survey – contact Career Services with any questions.

Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. | Doors open at 8:30 a.m.

College of Innovation and Technology | School of Management | School of Nursing

Ceremony begins at 3 p.m. | Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

Graduates should arrive no later than 45 minutes before the ceremony start time to line up for the processional.
It is strongly recommended that you avoid bringing bags. Please review the Dort Financial Center Bag and Security Policy.

August graduates: You must register to graduate prior to March 13 to receive the invitation email containing the RSVP information.
