Welcome to the Official UM-Flint Commencement Website
This website is dedicated to honoring the classes of 2020 and 2021. In the last year, our resilient students have remained committed to their goals, and have earned their degrees from UM-Flint. On behalf of the faculty, staff, students and alumni, we are proud of you!
The theme of the year’s commencement is Celebrate Blue, Celebrate You. We are dedicating events and activities to these amazing graduates who have persevered through this challenging period. On this site you will find information about the graduates, the events that are planned, special videos, and even resources designed to pay tribute to our graduates.
Commencement Space at University Pavilion
The University Pavilion Space is for students who would like to take photos to remember their achievement. Students can pick up their diploma cover and Honor Cords if they are receiving them from the Registrar’s Office in University Pavilion on the dates below. There will be the option of having pictures taken by a professional photographer for purchase and/or their own photographer of their choice. This is a way for students to invite a special faculty member to possibly join them for a photo, as well as have close family and friends accompany them to mark the occasion. The space will be open beginning Thursday, April 15 through Sunday, May 2, and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please also note that COVID-19 protocols will remain in place, which means a limited amount of people will be allowed in for these sessions for the health and safety of all visitors to campus.
Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Friday, April 23 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday – Noon – 4 p.m.

The Commencement Mural Project
UM-Flint is proud to partner with the Flint Public Art Project to bring one of the iconic Flint murals to the campus as a tribute to our students and graduates for persevering through challenges to earn their degrees. This endeavor will begin in April at the Harrison Street Parking Structure at the corner of Kearsley and Wallenberg, and it will create a lasting piece of public art that will honor the journey of UM-Flint students. One of the mural artists is Isiah Lattimore, who is graduating this spring from UM-Flint, and the mural he designed features alumna Egypt Otis who graduated in 2020. Read more about this project here.
Graduates will receive a commemorative gift as recognition of their accomplishments. The gift is a limited edition t-shirt featuring an original piece of artwork designed by UM-Flint student Alex Boylan who is an April 2020 grad. The design symbolizes the impact of the pandemic keeping the campus apart, but being united by the common connection to UM-Flint. To order your special edition t-shirt, use this link and it will be sent to you in a few weeks.
