Mission/Vision Values

In early November 2025, an eight-question survey was sent to faculty, staff, students, alumni and external stakeholders as part of our review of the University of Michigan-Flint’s mission and vision statements. This survey helped us articulate a set of institutional values that will guide our approach to mission-aligned work and help achieve our vision.  Responses to this initial survey:

  • Guided development of a follow-up survey that
    • Affirmed our current mission statement.
    • Selected a more future-focused vision statement.
    • Generated a word cloud of our institutional values.

Strategic Planning Process Feedback

Identification of Strategic Plan Themes

The UM-Flint community was invited to participate in one of six brainstorming sessions in February 2026 to identify the highest-priority themes to be incorporated into the UM-Flint strategic plan. Summaries from these sessions will be posted soon on the Data and Input page.
