Morris Hood Jr. Educator Development Program

The Morris Hood, Jr., Educator Development (MHED) Program is one vital component of a larger King-Chavez-Parks (KCP) initiative. The program aims to increase the completion rates of academically- or economically disadvantaged students in K-12 teacher education programs at the baccalaureate level at UM-Flint and prepare them to teach in Michigan.

MHED provides broad support throughout their college journey, from admission to graduation and beyond. We have tailored resources and benefits to help you reach your full potential inside and outside the classroom from admission to graduation and beyond as you pursue your teaching career.

Criteria:

  • Michigan resident
  • Education major
  • Academically or economically disadvantaged

Goals:
The goal is to expand the number of MHED-eligible students enrolled in UM-Flint’s teacher education program. This is done by providing invaluable support, fostering a sense of belonging at UM-Flint, and offering resources that help students academically and personally grow.

  • Personal Wellness
  • Community engagement
  • Canvas community page:
