Learn More, Live More, Be More!
Living on campus enhances your college experience, making it more memorable, enjoyable, and successful. Housing & Residential Life provides a student-focused, supportive atmosphere.
Residents enjoy the convenience of being close to classes, a short walk from on-campus dining, and easy access to Flint’s vibrant, growing downtown. Students who live on campus in their first one to two years typically perform better academically and graduate sooner than those who do not.
The amenities make our residence halls the perfect home away from home and an ideal place to study, relax, and build friendships that last a lifetime.

Application at a Glance
1
Apply Online
Admitted students may complete the housing application and sign the contract online.
Sign in to the StarRez portal to complete your housing application and agreement.
2
Complete Agreement
If you are under 18, you must ensure your parental or guardian verification contact is up to date. The system will send a link to the parent or guardian’s email you provide so they can electronically sign.
Your agreement will not be considered complete until this step is finished.
3
Submit Payment
All applicants are required to pay a $250 initial housing payment before the semester they intend to reside in housing, preferably within two weeks of signing the housing agreement.
Your initial housing payment applies toward your total housing cost, not an added fee. It secures your placement, and its date sets your priority for preference matching and other deadlines, including scholarships and residential learning community applications.

Students who complete the application, Initial Housing Payment, and agreement process with less than 30 days’ notice will receive assignment notifications within five to seven business days.

Pre-assignment Placements
Housing & Residential Life supports program and theme housing in each residence hall, aligned with academic, identity and interest areas. Each program has its own requirements that students must agree to fulfill to be pre-assigned.
Residential Learning Communities are affiliated with a campus department and supported by faculty or senior staff. Theme communities are organized around specific areas of focus proposed or renewed each academic year.
