The University of Michigan-Flint is committed to eliminating sexual and gender-based misconduct. Every member of our community shares the responsibility to report sexual misconduct, support those who come forward, and participate in education and training programs.

Required Employee Training

New: The SPG 201.89-1: Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation online training module provides information on addressing concerns of discrimination, harassment, and related retaliation, as well as employee reporting obligations and how to report concerns. The training is not available on a mobile device and must be completed on a computer or tablet.  Faculty and staff, including student employees, are required to complete the training by December 31, 2026.

ECRT has developed the required online training for all employees, which provides crucial information on the university’s policies, procedures and reporting requirements. Training for Employees

Online:

  • New: The Preventing & Responding to Sexual Misconduct online module provides information on the university’s sexual and gender-based misconduct policy, employee reporting obligations, and how to respond to and support impacted individuals.  Faculty and staff, including student employees, are required to complete the training by April 30, 2027.
  • The SPG 201.89-1: Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation online training module provides information on addressing concerns of discrimination, harassment, and related retaliation, as well as employee reporting obligations and how to report concerns.  Faculty and staff, including student employees, are required to complete the training by December 31, 2026.

Training for Students

In an effort to continue to ensure our commitment to creating an inclusive campus culture, there is a series of online modules that all students on campus are required to complete annually.

First year Students: The Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates course is mandatory for all incoming undergraduate students at UM-Flint. It must be completed during the first semester. The course is designed to help students build healthy relationships and learn how to recognize and respond to sexual assault and harassment. 

All Returning Undergraduate Students and all Graduate Students: All returning year students and graduate students are required to complete an online training module

Invitations to take these courses will be sent to your University of Michigan Flint email account in the fall semester of the new academic year. The online Undergraduate Sexual Misconduct Modules are is designed for all new members of our campus community, including new undergraduate students and transfer students. We encourage each member of our campus to participate. The trainings will take about 15 minutes to complete, followed by a brief survey. In Person: All new students at UM-Flint will attend an orientation session focused on Sexual Assault prevention. By the end of the session, students will understand how to recognize misconduct and know who to report it to if it occurs.
