The Theatre & Dance program at the University of Michigan-Flint produces several types of performances each year, from musicals to Shakespeare, contemporary playwrights to original pieces written by our students. We look forward to enjoying a show with you soon.
Ticketing Information
We partner with the FIM Ticket Center to manage our online ticket purchases. Tickets are also available for purchase in person at the Whiting and Flint Farmers’ Market box office locations, as well as one hour prior to the production at the UM-Flint Theatre.
Ticket Pricing
- $15 (general admission for single ticket)
- $10 (seniors/alumni/faculty/staff with id/Veterans)
- $8 (students from all area colleges & universities)

Here are the productions our Theatre & Dance program put on during the 2025 – 2026 academic year.

Twelfth Night
Written by William Shakespeare
Directed by Janet Haley
This production ran from October 31st through November 9th, 2025. Featuring an eye-catching scene and costume design, this humorous tale of mistaken identity brought the bard’s words into a contemporary perspective.

Lucky Stiff
A co-production with The Flint Repertory Theatre.

Music by Stephen Flaherty
Directed by Stephanie Dean
This hilarious musical farce featured a cast and crew made up of professionals and UM-Flint students, faculty and staff. The production ran from March 20th through April 4th, 2026.

Spring Dance Concert
Featuring works choreographed by UM-Flint faculty and students, in collaboration with the 25-26 Flint Artist in Residence, Shanzell Page. The performances were held on April 17th & 18th, 2026.

Exit, Pursued by a Bear
Written by Lauren Gunderson
Directed by William Irwin
This production ran from November 8th – 17th, 2024. A darkly comic journey through trauma and liberation, this contemporary piece was inspired, in part, by one of Shakespeare’s most famous action directives.

A Year with Frog and Toad
Book and Lyrics by Willie Reale
Music by Robert Reale
Based on books by Arnold Lobel
Directed by Stephanie Dean
This family-friendly musical was inspired by the famous Frog and Toad books, and featured playful set and costume design. It ran from March 21st – 30th, 2025, with a Family Fun Day on March 23rd that featured hands-on activities, cast meet-and-greets, free copies of one of the books, and more.

The Laramie Project
Written by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theatre Project
Directed by Janet Haley
Held from April 17th – 19th, 2025, this exploration of the impact Matthew Shepard’s life and death had on the town of Laramie, WY, was co-created by students across campus.
