Marketing and Communications exist to enhance and amplify the messages of those UM-Flint students, faculty members, staffers, colleges, schools, and departments doing incredible things. Our university is a treasure chest of expertise, research successes, and tales of personal triumph.

Those are stories worth telling and sharing.

A key element in any marketing effort is news coverage. UM-Flint’s media relations professionals constantly seek ways to generate coverage to enhance the university’s image.

We invite you to contact us with information about your research, exceptional students, and special events. While we can’t promise coverage of every opportunity, we will assess the newsworthiness of activities and, depending on the story and timing, may do one of the following:

  • Write a story for the university’s website and/or social media outlets.
  • Pitch the story to reporters or producers.
  • Write and distribute a news release.
  • Promote the story as part of a trend (something happening in higher education across the state, for example).
