What are Intramural Sports?
Intramural Sports are recreational sports and activities designed for friendly and fun competition against other students, faculty and staff. The time commitment will vary based on the format of the activity:
- League — Intramural Sports leagues are three weeks in length, four counting championship nights, with typically one to two games per week on weekday evenings.
- Tournament—Tournaments are one-day events at a set time in which teams or individuals play a few match-ups. See the sports offerings above for tournament specifics.
- Special Event — Special events will have names like contests, challenges, or scrambles and showcase opportunities outside traditional team sports. These are often our shortest time commitment offerings or are completed on your own time virtually.
Who can play Intramural Sports?
Intramural Sports are open to current students, as well as faculty/staff with Rec memberships.
How do I register?
Register at IMLeagues. This is also where team schedules and scores are posted.
- Log in using your umich email and password.
- If this is your first time using IMLeagues, you will need to provide some additional information (i.e. date of birth, UMID, etc.) and agree to the terms and conditions before proceeding.
- On the homepage, select the sport/league you want to register for.
- Create your team and add friends, or join an existing team.
- For leagues, one member of each team must serve as the team captain. This person is responsible for reviewing the pre-season captain’s information, which covers league rules.
What if I don’t have a team?
You can register as a free agent! Free agents can join a team through various methods listed below. UM-Flint IM Sports: Free Agent Instructions.
- Using IMLeagues, participants can register as “Free Agents” in certain sports or contact Team Captains to find a team to play on.
- Team Captains can go through the Free Agent lists on IMLeagues and invite players to join their team.
- If there are enough free agents to fill a full roster, the Intramural Sports staff may create a free-agent team if a team spot becomes available.
