Translate this site

The University of Michigan-Flint website is published in English. To read any page in your preferred language, use the translation feature built into your web browser. Modern browsers detect non-English speakers automatically and offer a one-click translation. No special setup is required, and the translation works on every page of umflint.edu.

Select your browser below for step-by-step instructions.

On a computer

Google Chrome

When you visit a page in another language, Chrome shows a translation bar at the top of the page. Click the language you want to read in. If the bar does not appear, right-click anywhere on the page and choose “Translate to [your language].” You can also click the translate icon in the address bar.

To set a default translation language, click the three-dot menu, choose Settings, then Languages, and add your preferred language.

Microsoft Edge

Edge automatically prompts you to translate pages that are not in a language you read. When the prompt appears, choose your language from the dropdown and click Translate. If the prompt does not appear, click the translate icon in the address bar.

To manage your language preferences, click the three-dot menu, choose Settings, then Languages.

Safari on Mac

Click the translate icon in the address bar, then choose your preferred language. You can also go to the View menu, choose Translation, and select Translate to [your language]. Safari supports a focused list of languages including Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic.

Mozilla Firefox

Click the translate icon in the address bar when it appears, choose your language, and click Translate. Firefox runs translation on your device, which means your browsing stays private and no third-party server sees the page content.

A note on translation accuracy

Browser translation is powered by automated services such as Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, and on-device translation engines. While these tools are continuously improving, no machine translation is perfect. The English version of this site is the authoritative source for academic, admissions, financial aid, and policy information. If a translated phrase is unclear, or if you have a question about specific content, please contact the relevant office for clarification.
