We encourage you to submit your application by the listed priority deadlines to secure your spot at UM-Flint. Applying before the deadline will boost your chances of admission and accelerate the process of becoming a Wolverine.

Undergraduate Application Deadlines

  • Fall semester: July 1
  • Winter semester: Nov. 1

Students may apply after the priority deadlines, but they may not receive an admission decision in time to enroll for the semester for which they have applied.

Graduate Admission Deadlines

If you are an international applicant seeking admission to one of our graduate programs, please find your graduate program and review the application deadlines stated on the program page. Graduate admission deadlines vary by program and by semester.

In addition to the priority deadlines listed above, international applicants must also keep the following dates in mind.

  • Winter I-20 Issue Deadline: Dec. 1
    • (Winter 2026 I-20s will start being sent out July 1, 2025)
  • Priority Housing Application Deadline: Feb. 1
  • Fall I-20 Issue Deadline: Aug. 1

Paying for Your Michigan Degree

While most international students do not qualify for federal financial aid, UM-Flint works hard to provide an affordable educational experience through International Tuition and other means of financial aid, such as scholarships and work-study opportunities.

International undergraduate students can qualify for first-year merit scholarships or our transfer merit-based scholarships, depending on their enrollment status.

International graduate students have additional options to help fund their education. Our Graduate Student Research Assistantship program provides a stipend along with valuable work experience in an academic setting, while the Global Graduate Merit Scholarship offers awards of up to $10,000.
