I-9 Form (Eligibility to Work in the US)
Form I-9 is used to document verification of the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. As required by federal law, the university must complete Form I-9 for each individual hired for employment in the United States.
Effective April 6, 2020: Must use New Form I-9 (PDF, fillable version) OR New Form I-9 Paper Version (This version is unfillable and must be printed for completion on paper only.)

For other UM Campus new employees, please contact University Human Resources at email@example.com for information on scheduling an appointment to complete an I-9 on the Flint campus.
Faculty will be processed via communication with designated HR Business Partner. Please contact University Human Resources at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
Regular Staff will be processed as part of the on-boarding process.
Student/Temporary employees will need to follow the steps below:
- Receive email from HR Business Partner containing instructions on completing the I-9 process in HR.
- Once the I-9 has been completed and processed an email will be sent to the new hire and the department with authorizing to work.
- Student/Temporary employees may not begin work until the department receives this authorization.
