Support Digital Accessibility this May at UM-Flint

Did you know over 1 billion people worldwide live with a disability? Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 15 encourages everyone to talk, think, and learn about digital access and inclusion.
In celebration of GAAD and in alignment with Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility SPG 601.20, ITS, MAC, and ODE are excited to share several ways you can support accessibility at UM-Flint this May:
Website Accessibility
Take time to review your department’s public and intranet sites:
- Sort pages in WordPress by “last updated.” Is the content current and accessible?
- Review media files — remove unused items and consider converting PDFs to webpages.
Canvas Accessibility
Panorama is now available in Canvas, providing a powerful tool to check, improve, and create accessible content directly within your course. It scans course materials and attached documents for accessibility issues, and offers easy-to-use options to address them—helping you deliver more inclusive content to all students.
ODE has launched the Canvas Accessibility with Panorama course to help you learn how to add captions to video, use descriptive links, provide alt text for images, and more!
