UM-Flint’s secondary education degrees include:

Two programs that prepare you for K-12 certification

  • Art Education program, which leads to a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Music Education program, which leads to a Bachelor of Music Education degree.

Three major elements

  • Courses in the subject matter that you’ll teach.
  • Courses about education theories and teaching methods.
  • Hundreds of hours of hands-on experience as a student teacher.

There will be even more openings for high school teachers, with the BLS projecting 64,000 job openings annually through 2033. The latest median salary for high school teachers is $65,580.
