Accommodate by Simplicity
What is Accommodate?
As part of our ongoing efforts to support students with disabilities, DASS utilizes Accommodate by Symplicity to manage accommodation requests.
Accommodate is an innovative software platform designed to streamline and enhance our services. It is a comprehensive system that facilitates the coordination and delivery of reasonable accommodations for disabled students across campus. By leveraging this program, we aim to ensure equal access to education and create a level playing field for every student.
The Accommodate program provides a centralized hub where students can register with our office, request accommodations, book testing rooms in the DASS office, and communicate with our staff. This streamlined process not only saves time but also eliminates the need for multiple forms and paperwork, making the accommodation request process efficient and convenient.
Our office staff utilizes Accommodate to manage and track accommodation requests seamlessly. It enables us to efficiently review and evaluate each student’s needs, determine appropriate accommodations, and facilitate their implementation. The program also provides a comprehensive record-keeping system, allowing us to maintain accurate documentation of accommodations provided to individual students.
How Does Accommodate Benefit Students?
With Accommodate, students can securely submit documentation related to their disabilities, such as medical records or diagnostic reports. This information remains confidential and is only accessible to authorized personnel involved in the accommodation process. Students can also upload their class schedules and access important accommodation-related documents, such as their accommodation letters.
Furthermore, Accommodate offers various communication tools, including messaging features and notification systems, enabling effective and timely interactions between students and our office. Students can be alerted to changes in their accommodation status. Students with current accommodations can use Accommodate to book testing rooms and request alternate-format textbooks. For more information on how to use Accommodate as a student, visit our student resources page.
How Does Accommodate Benefit Faculty?
Accommodate gives faculty a central location to view current and previous student accommodation letters. It also allows faculty to communicate exam information to our office, including exam length, allowed materials, return instructions, and uploading the exam itself.
