What are the hours of operation for the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation?

The School of Nursing Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the exception of holidays and/or as otherwise posted.

On most weekdays the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation is closed Monday through Friday 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for lunch.

Can I have food or drink within the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation?

Yes, however, food and drink of any kind is only permitted in the Debrief Rooms. Please do not bring food or drink into any simulation room.

As a student participant, what should I wear when I attend my scheduled Simulation-Based Experience in the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation?

Please refer to rule #4 in the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation Code of Conduct. “I will follow the UM-Flint School of Nursing dress code for clinical when attending SBEs.”

Where can I find the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation Rules and Code of Conduct?

You can find the Rules and Code of Conduct on the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation intranet website and posted on the wall by the door in each Debrief Room.

When should I arrive for my scheduled Simulation-Based Experience?

Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow for any unknowns. Plan ahead for inclement weather.

Who can make a reservation for a Simulation-Based Experience, program, or skills event in the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation?

Course Lead Faculty only.

Simulation spaces must be requested via the Program Request Form. This form can be found on the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation intranet website.

Meeting spaces must be requested via the Meeting Space Request Form.

Who can make a reservation for the meeting/debriefing spaces in the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation?

Open to all University of Michigan students, faculty, or staff.

Meeting/Debriefing spaces must be requested via the Meeting Space Request Form. This form can be found on the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation intranet website.

SBEs and skills events take priority over all other meetings in all cases.

Who can make a reservation for a tour of the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation?

Open to all who are interested.

Tours must be requested via the Tour Request Form. This form can be found on the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation intranet website. Tours are permitted based on volume and staff availability.

When can I put in my Simulation-Based Experience reservation request for next semester?

I have scheduled my Simulation-Based Experience in the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation. What happens next?

Once you have received your Google Calendar Appointment confirming your space, date, times, location(s), simulators and equipment, the Simulation Specialist/Coordinator will reach out to schedule a Pre-Program Planning Meeting to review and discuss the final details of your event.

What happens if I want to schedule a Simulation-Based Experience after the reservation window closes?

You are free to request Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation space for meetings, simulations, tours, or skills events at any point during the semester after the reservation window is closed. However, after the semester schedule has been mapped out by Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation leadership, all subsequent requests will be on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to space and staff availability.

I am Lead Faculty for a course and I have a student in need of remediation for a specific clinical skill or task. Can I use the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation for this remediation?

Yes, you as the Lead Faculty can request a remediation session for your student.

Student remediation must be requested via the Clinical Remediation and Student Evaluation Request Form. This form can be found on the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation intranet website. All remediation requests are subject to space, equipment, and faculty and staff availability.

Can I borrow a manikin, model, task trainer, or piece of equipment for a class presentation or another event on campus?

Yes, but only if it is for demonstration and/or training purposes.

An equipment sign-out sheet is provided for tracking. Please contact James McTiernan or Ron Streetman before your arrival to check out equipment so the CSCI Team can prepare your items.

Am I able to use Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation owned equipment on live humans for the purposes of treatment, health screenings, preventative care, or diagnosis?

No, the equipment owned by the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation is not intended for human use. Further, nothing owned or operated in the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation is guaranteed to function or operate to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Does the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation use the same fluids or medications that a real clinical site offers?

No, nor does the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation allow any real (for human use) medication to be used or stored within the Center for Simulation and Clinical Innovation.
