    Dear Students and Colleagues,        

        

    Tracey Curtright has accepted the position of Disability Coordinator at UM-Flint. 

     

    Tracey has spent years leading, coordinating, and overseeing comprehensive programs and initiatives addressing the rights of students with disabilities. Through her experience in assessment and program evaluation coupled with years of collaborating with multiple non-profit organizations, Tracey approaches her work holistically and brings to UM-Flint innovative ideas to add to the development and implementation of inclusively-designed curricular and co-curricular opportunities, experiences, and environments for students with disabilities.

     

    Tracey Curtright began her role as Disability Coordinator on November 1st. Her office is located in 112 Thompson Library and her phone number is 810 762-3081.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
CAPS provides services to enrolled students that help to maximize their academic and personal potential.  Students are provided with counseling, therapy, and limited psychological testing.  Workshops are available on topics such as stress management, test anxiety, time management, and healthy relationships.  Support services and assistive technology are available for students with physical and/or psychiatric disabilities, either permanent or temporary.  CAPS will advocate on behalf of students in arranging ADA accommodations for their classes and campus activities.  All services are provided at no charge to students.

Accessibility Services

Students with physical and/or psychiatric disabilities are encouraged to meet with staff to discuss reasonable accommodations that support success and foster an inclusive campus environment. Working collaboratively with faculty to identify and address challenges related to meeting academic responsibilities. Accommodations are available for:

  • Read and Write Gold 11

     

    Read and Write Literacy Software provides tools that help students with learning disabilities and English Language Learners to succeed in the academic environment. This software is available to all members of the UM-Flint community. Additional information is available on the Knox Center website:

    To download the software, please click link below and follow the directions. 

     

    1) Go to https://www.itcs.umich.edu/bluedisc/Main.php?do=bluediscdownload&id=13 (you will probably need to log in using your Kerberos password)

    2) Look for the line that says "Read & Write Gold v. 11" and click on the "Info" link at the end of the line. That will provide detailed installation instructions.

    3) Click on the "Download" link at the end of the same line to begin the installation.

    4) If you are asked to activate the software, just click on the "Activate" button. You should not need to enter any additional information.
