Pool Area

Pool Closure Information

As announced to campus and rec center members on May 17, the UM-Flint pool will be permanently closing and the last day of operations will be Saturday, July 26, 2025.

The pool has been a significant part of UM-Flint’s history for nearly five decades. Since its opening, the pool has hosted countless classes, fitness activities, and special events, serving generations of students, faculty, staff, and community members. We are deeply grateful for the memories and traditions it has fostered on our campus.

Until the closure, all spaces and activities listed on this page are available. Saunas and pool locker rooms will remain open for the time being and close at a later, to be determined date.

Please use the buttons below to read the full closure announcements, find answers to anticipated questions, make changes to your existing membership/locker rental, or submit any questions or comments.

There are men’s and women’s pool locker rooms just outside the pool area, and each locker room has a dry sauna. On the pool deck, you’ll also see the whirlpool hot tub and the shallow water exercise area for our water-based group fitness classes.

Accessibility Info

We have a pool lift, hot tub lift, and elevator from the lower-level locker rooms. If you need assistance with one of the lifts, please ask a lifeguard on deck.

A hallway is available to bypass the men’s and women’s locker rooms and proceed directly to the pool. The doors to locker rooms and the pool hallway do not have automatic open buttons; please ask the front counter staff for assistance accessing the space.
