The Recreation Center is open to all University of Michigan-Flint students who are registered for classes – all you need is your MCard for access. Our facility is also open to the public through memberships, and boasts features such cardio and weight areas, plus much more to help you get and stay in shape.

Planning a visit? Bring your cloth face covering (required) and your Mcard. All patrons will also be required to complete the University of Michigan ResponsiBLUE Health Screening Check prior to entry to the Rec Center.

The UM-Flint Recreation Center was completed in 1982. The three levels (main, lower & upper) are home to three basketball courts, an indoor track, four fitness rooms, a 25-yard lap pool, dry heat saunas, plus cardio and strength training areas.
The Activities Room is a multi-purpose space frequently used for table tennis. This space can also be reserved by groups for martial arts, meetings or other events. It is located on the Main Level.
Aerobic Dance Room
The Aerobic Dance Room features a vaulted floor and mirrors and is primarily used for fitness classes. This space is located on the Main Level and can be reserved by groups for special events.
Enjoy ellipticals, treadmills, lifecycles, stairmaster, free climbers, stair mill, arm ergometer, and rowers while watching cable on HDTV. Bring your own headset/earphones! Located on the Upper Level. The cardio theater also has an open training space, with mirrors, mats, dumbbells, and stability balls. Access is age-restricted, see Youth Policies for more information.
Cybex® Strength Room
Full line of Cybex® weight machines. Located on the Upper Level. Access is age-restricted, see Youth Policies for more information.
Free Weight Room
Free weights, benches, dumbbells, smith machine, and mirrored walls located on the Upper Level, next to the Cybex weight machines. Access is age-restricted, see Youth Policies for more information.
The original ice rink at University Pavilion was restored in 2016. Since then, it has reopened each winter to offer free ice skating to the community. Bring your skates, or rent a pair from UM-Flint, and enjoy the cardiovascular winter workout, as you glide around the rink in the center of the city. See Ice Rink Policies for more information.
Lower Level Fitness Room
Fitness studio for spinning, martial arts, and specialty classes featuring fitness-flooring, mirrors, and stereo sound system. Access is age-restricted, see Youth Policies for more information.
Our multi-sport courts, located on the Lower Level, are lined for volleyball, badminton, pickleball, basketball, tennis, and soccer.
- Gymnasium Locker Rooms: Features lockers for day use and long-term rental, as well as curtained shower stalls. Located on the Lower Level.
- Pool Locker Rooms: Features lockers for day use and long-term rental, as well as an open shower area and dry heat saunas. Located on the Lower Level.
- Inclusive Locker Room: The inclusive changing space, which features a single private changing space that is not gender-specific. Located on the Lower Level.
Day-use lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis for patrons wishing to bring their own lock. NOTE: Contents may not be left overnight and will be removed by staff at the close of business, and they may not be rented for longer-term use.
The Upper Level is home to our four racquetball/paddleball courts, one with a glass wall.
UM-Flint Reflection Rooms are quiet spaces on campus intended for students and other members of the University community to meditate, pray, and/or spend quiet time in reflection. Located at 338 UCEN and 1158 WSW. Open on a first-come, first-served basis during the hours the building in which it is located is open. See Reflection Room Policies for more information,
Room 11 is a multi-purpose, carpeted space featuring mirrored walls and calming murals. It is frequently used for yoga fitness classes, as well as physical education academic classes. This space is located on the Lower Level. It may be reserved by groups and is equipped with a “smart cart” computer and projector.

Swimming Pool & Spa
Our indoor 25-yard pool features four lanes and a shallow area for exercise and play. You can view the pool & spa policies here.
The banked, 1/10th-mile indoor track is suspended over the gymnasium. Accessible from the Upper Level. Access is age-restricted, see Youth Policies for more information.
The U-FIT Room is home to our free U-FIT classes and features plyometric boxes, tires, ropes, and other items for our coaches to offer a complete cross-training session. This space is located on the Main Level and is only accessible during U-FIT class times. Access is age-restricted, see Youth Policies for more information.
Upper Level Fitness Room
The Upper Level Fitness Room is an open space that can be used as a stretching area. Located just off the weight area. This space can also be reserved by groups for meetings or events.
Racquetball courts on the Upper Level are also adaptable for wallyball. Equipment is available free for checkout from the front counter.
