The University of Michigan-Flint is now offering paid summer undergraduate research experience opportunities funded through the generous support of the Charles S. Mott Foundation.  SURE is designed for undergraduate students who are interested in full-time (8 weeks) or half-time (16 weeks) paid summer research opportunities mentored by UM-Flint faculty advisors.

Deadline for faculty project applications is March 1, 2018.

The application and selection process is similar to the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP).  Faculty advisors propose mentored research projects and students apply for placements with the available research projects.  Students can also submit their application and potential matches will be identified after the deadline.

Online applications for faculty members and students are available in form assembly on the UM-Flint website.

Approximately 10 awards are available for SURE in the summer of 2018 (between May and August).  Faculty and students can direct questions to the undergraduate research program manager in the Office of Research, Andre Louis (
